2021 has been a challenging year, coupled with the issues and struggles of 2020. The Yarram Agricultural Society has had to
make the very difficult decision of cancelling our 2021 Yarram Agricultural Show event, which was scheduled to go ahead on Saturday 20th November.
The committee is very disappointed and the decision was not made lightly, which is why we have delayed the announcement of our
decision. Taking into account the current restrictions in place surrounding Covid 19 and the advice given in moving forward, we felt the compliance and guidelines to adequately and safely run
a Covid safe event in line with health advice was/is not achievable. The risks are too great for our community and our volunteers, many of whom are older. We just don’t have the numbers in
workers to meet the additional and extensive guidelines in providing a Covid safe event. We have to weigh this additional workload up with financial costs and the committee feel the risk is
too great for 2021.
Although we are saddened with the decision, it follows suit of all other Gippsland shows having to cancel their events. We will
be looking at running an alternative online program with amended categories but are yet to determine when and how this will run.
We thank the community for their ongoing support and to the many businesses that have shown support through sponsorship and
donations. We hope that 2022 will be the year we can all get back to some sort of normality and enjoy community events once more.
